Local footballers D’Arcy Redd and Calum Patterson, both representing Clacton Coastal Academy (who run a Chelsea FC Foundation Football College Academy), have been chosen out of 22 players to return to the Chelsea Training Ground in Cobham, Surrey in the Easter Holidays to play for the Chelsea FC Foundation College Select Squad. This squad is made up of the 16 best players attending Chelsea FC Foundation Football College Academies around the South and East of England.

Both Redd and Patterson impressed in a 6-team tournament at Cobham back in October 2015 where Clacton Coastal Academy lost on penalties in the final, and were invited to join 20 other players from the Dartmoor, Sandwich, London and Chichester College Academies to play against AFC Wimbledon in February half-term. Following the AFC Wimbledon match, this was then narrowed down to a 16-man squad to play against Yokohama FC Under 17s on Wednesday 30th March 2016.

Redd, a tenacious defender/midfielder has represented FC Clacton Reserves this season, whilst forward Patterson has played for FC Clacton Reserves but also scored on his debut for FC Clacton First Team recently.
