I am very proud to announce that, once again, the excellent teaching that goes on here at CCA has been recognised. Thursday night was the Essex Teaching Awards.

Our very own Miss Allington walked away with Highly Commended in the category of Secondary Teacher of the Year. Secondly, Mr Seager was awarded Highly Commended in the Student Choice Award. This is thoroughly deserved and a great accolade for the PE department. Thank you to the students who took the time to vote, it really does mean a lot to know that teachers hard work is appreciated.

Mr Seager received over 30 votes for the Student Choice Award. He was described by students as “a great role model”, a “helpful and considerate teacher”, and “he inspires his students to want to do well to make him proud.” He commented that: “Receiving an award for 'The Student Choice Award' is incredible. I was grateful and taken aback when I was informed I had a nomination, I was then extremely humbled when I was made aware of the actual amount of student nominations I had received! To be recognised as 'Highly Commended' in a category that is decided by our students and also with it being the first year that this category has been included in The Essex Teaching Awards, I could not be more proud. I am lucky enough to work in a job that I look forward to going into every morning, where the students that I have the pleasure of teaching make every day both inspiring and rewarding all at the same time.”

This is Miss Allington’s second year at the awards after she received Special Recognition last year. She said: “I am delighted to have been recognised at the Essex Teaching Awards for the second year running in the 'Secondary School Teacher of the Year' category. I felt privileged and humbled to have received the accolade of 'highly commended' within this field. I am honoured that our students have taken the time to nominate me, for which I am grateful. I am extremely proud to call myself a teacher of Clacton Coastal Academy.”

Great job - next year we'll have even more nominations!!
