Three years ago Clacton Coastal Academy introduced a prefect team to the school. This initiative is now coming into its 4th year. The programme was put in place to promote leadership amongst students, to offer students the opportunity to adopt responsibility and to inspire them to succeed. Part of their success is due to the training they undertake. This year’s prefect team have just participated in their Annual Prefect Conference.

Head girl, Charlotte Douglas-Gray said: “The prefect conference is a great opportunity for us to get to know each other better and to see what skills we have and therefore learn how we are going to function as a team. We have an exciting year ahead and we are all keen to make a difference in the academy.”

The day included working on leadership, resilience, the CCA Way and setting up working parties such as a Prefect Discipline Panel and how to run charity events. The delegates were treated to a fantastic luncheon which included a very impressive show stopper dessert that the 'Great British Bake Off' would have been proud of!

Caroline Haynes, Executive Principal at Clacton Coastal Academy said:

“We are very proud of our prefect team at CCA. They are active ambassadors within the academy and the community. They recently played a large part in our Open Evening by showing parents and students around the facilities and talking to them about what CCA has to offer,  I had numerous people comment on how professional and polite they were. Training days such as these are vital in ensuring these students work as a team and inspiring them to get involved with every aspect of academy life.”
