CCA gets Silver Investors in People Award

Investors in People (IiP) is a management framework for high performance through people. This prestigious accreditation is recognised across the world as a mark of excellence. Organisations that demonstrate the Investors in People Standard achieve the accreditation through a rigorous and objective assessment to determine performance.

Every 3 years the academy has to complete an assessment to ensure the school is still operating within the IiP framework. This year they are delighted that  they have moved up to achieve the Silver Investors in People award. Tracey Hemming, Principal commented: “We are extremely happy with this result. It puts us in the top 10% of employers in the country, which is quite some achievement. Nearly 50 staff members from all areas of the academy were interviewed and our assessor found that we are 
unanimously united in our vision for the academy.”

The report concludes that: “Their ability to improve is impressive and their learning journey in the last three years is nothing short of remarkable. CCA will be an outstanding school in 2018 and will also become a Gold IiP organisation reflecting an oasis of excellence in a community with high levels of deprivation.”

When writing about the leadership and management of the academy, the report states: “This school has rapidly improved with great leadership and clear values. They are not only in spirit an Investor in People organisation but in substance too. Their collective and inclusive approach to staff development has resulted in aspirational, motivated individuals and high performance teams.”

Staff at the academy feel their professional development is a part of why CCA is a great place to work. “Staff interviewed commented that they feel that their training needs are well provided for in order to help them to develop and to be more effective in their work, and in developing their future careers.” Also: “Systems are in place to ensure that teachers are supported and challenged. The CPP (Continuing Professional Performance) programme gives them every opportunity to develop and grow into their role. 

There is a determined push for teaching and learning to continue to improve and strengthen. Line management and accountability systems are robust and results in high quality feedback and support for individuals.”

A number of strengths were listed. One being: “The culture here eats strategy for breakfast, staff engagement at all levels is high. Staff feel informed, empowered to make a difference. The ethos is vibrant, dynamic, supportive and not blame culture prevails. Teamwork, cross team working, a can do attitude, supportive leadership at all levels was evidenced in abundance.” The report also said: “The Principal and her senior leadership team have skillfully steered the academy’s development with ambition and drive so that teaching and achievement have improved rapidly and are good. Governors provide effective support and challenge to senior leadership.”

In conclusion that assessor said: “This place is rocking, singing from the same hymn sheet. Their reputation is growing and they fully deserve their Silver Status.”
