Year 11 students at Clacton Coastal Academy excelled at their first taste of a formal business interview when local business representatives were invited in to provide year 11s with a ‘mock’ interview experience.

Students were challenged to answer some of the most common, and most arduous interview questions. They received valuable feedback on their strengths and advice on areas for development in preparation for when they face the real thing. The questions were asked by a selection of high-profile potential future employers, including Tendring District Council, BT, Barclays, Nationwide, Adecco and Catten College with over 200 interviews taking place.

Principal, Tracey Hemming said: “Our students take this day very seriously and come in fully prepared, which includes dressing in business wear and carefully preparing their answers. As always the feedback from the businesses was extremely complimentary including: ‘She certainly knows what she wants to achieve in life and is determined to do it’ and ‘he was articulate and engaging - he should be proud of the way he conducts himself’. Our guests also mentioned that they were astounded by how well-prepared and confident our students were, especially considering how close they are to taking their exams. This event always brings home to me how hard our young people work and how determined they are to be a success and it makes me very proud to be a part of this wonderful community. My thanks must go to these employers for giving up their time and for taking an interest in the young people of Clacton”
