At the end of the summer term we advertised an event on
25th September 2018 for parents to see student work.  This involved the school closing early.  Due to having only recently closed for taster day for year 6 we have cancelled this event.  This is why there has been no further communication.  Apologies for the late confirmation of the cancellation.

The next parent meetings are:
Year 11 mock exam preparation evening - Tuesday 9th October
Year 7 parents evening - Tuesday 16th October

More details to follow

Attendance

All students should aim for 100% attendance.  This year we are measuring how many days are missed in a half term and shortly parents will receive a weekly text with this information.
A text will be sent following tutor time registration if a child has not registered with their tutor.  This will ask you to call in with a reason if you have not already done so.

Term time holidays will not be authorised:

The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time.  The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 prohibits Head Teachers granting leave of absence to a pupil except where an application has been made in advance and the Head Teacher considers that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

If parents do take children out of school for holidays, the absences will not be authorised and the Local Authority may issue a penalty notice to each parent of £60 for each child to be paid within 21 days.  If the penalty is not paid within the time scale the penalty will increase to £120. If the higher penalty is not paid within 28 days, the Local Authority will then institute legal proceedings against the parent in the magistrate’s court under Section 444 of the Education Act 1996 for failing to ensure their child attends school regularly.

Clacton Coastal Academy - GCSE and Vocational examination results

Congratulations to all of the students at Clacton Coastal Academy who opened their GCSE and Vocational examination results today. Today saw the culmination of 5 years of hard work, which was particularly more challenging this year with the reforms made to the new GCSEs and their increased levels of difficulty. Individual successes were seen over a range of subjects, with a number of students achieving the new Grade 9. It was with great pride that we were able to share in Jessica Haywood’s success as she secured the highest grades amongst all of her peers with Grades 9 in Biology, English Literature, English Language, Geography and Mathematics. Other fantastic triumphs were seen by Clacton Coastal Academy's Head Boy Joe Holmes and Head Girl Chloe Harris, both securing the highest levels of progress amongst the year group. Having received his results, Joe said “I’m overjoyed with my results, thank you to all of the staff who have helped me along the way to reach my full potential.

A significant number of students will be continuing their studies with us as they move in to 6th Form, where they will complete their further qualifications and work related learning programmes.
