Parents

Attendance

All students should aim for 100% attendance.  This year we are measuring how many days are missed in a half term and shortly parents will receive a weekly text with this information.
A text will be sent following tutor time registration if a child has not registered with their tutor.  This will ask you to call in with a reason if you have not already done so.

Term time holidays will not be authorised:

The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time.  The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 prohibits Head Teachers granting leave of absence to a pupil except where an application has been made in advance and the Head Teacher considers that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

If parents do take children out of school for holidays, the absences will not be authorised and the Local Authority may issue a penalty notice to each parent of £60 for each child to be paid within 21 days.  If the penalty is not paid within the time scale the penalty will increase to £120. If the higher penalty is not paid within 28 days, the Local Authority will then institute legal proceedings against the parent in the magistrate’s court under Section 444 of the Education Act 1996 for failing to ensure their child attends school regularly.

We value your opinion! Please complete this survey to let us know about any of our parental events.

Dear CCA Parents,

As many of you are aware, we have opened up access to Go4Schools to all parents. This will show you your child’s progress and targets in all their subjects as well as their behaviour record and attendance.

How to log on:

1. To start to use Go4Schools, go to www.go4schools.com and click on the parent link in the top right-hand corner.

2. You will now need to enter the email address that the academy has on record for you. Your login details and password will be sent to this address. If you do not have an email address on our records, please contact us to change this as you will not be able to access Go4Schools without a registered email address.

3. You will now be able to access your child’s Go4Schools record.

If you have any queries or questions regarding logging on with Go4Schools, please contact: lleatherby@clactoncoastalacademy.org

Road Safety

It has been brought to our attention by members of the public, staff and concerned parents and carers that students need to take greater care when travelling to and from the Academy, particularly by bike.

We are alarmed that many students are cycling on roads and pavements without safety helmets and need to be much more aware of traffic as they make their journey.

Please support us and the safety of the students by reinforcing this message at home and ensuring that appropriate caution and head-wear to minimise the risk in case of accidents which unfortunately can happen without the right care and attention to the road.
