Subject Focus

First of all a huge well done from myself and the rest of the Geography Curriculum Area to all Year 11s for their hard work and dedication to their GCSE exams. They have worked so hard especially in the run-up to their final exams; myself, Mr Davidson and Mr Moore were extremely proud to say we have worked with this group of hard-working pupils. Secondly I would like to take this early opportunity to inform parents and carers of pupils taking GCSE Geography, or BTEC Travel & Tourism as an option this year that each pupil will be required to provide their own A4 lever arch folder for the course. Information will also be released shortly about CCA’s second venture to Snowdonia National Park, which pupils thoroughly enjoyed earlier this year; it will be open to all pupils who have chosen these subjects as an option.

Last of all I thought I would share with you some images (photographs courtesy of Chelsea Shaw!) of our Year 10 pupils working hard on the Walton-on-the-Naze trip which pupils attended to ensure they do well in their Controlled Assessment. We had a beautiful, sunny day which made our job of investigating the effectiveness of Walton’s coastal defences that much nicer! We also had time to go to the top of the Naze Tower, still under threat from coastal erosion, and receive a talk from a local expert about the threats and plans to help The Tower stay standing. Huge credit should be offered to the pupils, especially as the expert commented to me about how lovely and hardworking they were so another big thank you to all staff and pupils involved from me.
