Well, it has been a hectic couple of terms so far! However, the pinnacle of all of this is the achievement of the U12 girls, U16 girls and Yr11 boy’s football teams who reached the district finals in their categories. I am extremely proud of their achievements this year and the commitment they have shown towards the academy. Unfortunately the boys lost against the Gilberd in an excellent and gutsy performance last week, however I am extremely happy to announce that the under 16’s won their match 5-2 against Stanway. A truly worthy win and congratulations to them all on their hard work and dedication. Well done also to the U12’s who lost narrowly by 5-6 to Philip Morant School and put in a great effort and only just missed out.

Also, in the past term, we have seen the North Essex Girls Cricket Academy go from strength to strength. The girls are developing into fantastic cricketers and proved this when competing in a recent county wide indoor cricket tournament where they reached the semi-finals for their age group.

The Year 11 GCSE students have also just completed a series of very successful practical exams where we have enjoyed our best results ever. The cohort as a whole obtained 9A*’s, 14A’s, 6B’s, 6C’s and 1D grade. I would like to extend my thanks and congratulations to all the Year 11 GCSE PE students for working incredibly hard to secure these outstanding results….just the theory to go now! The A-Level students are about to complete their practical exams and I wish them well in these.

This coming term also proves to be a busy one in PE. Not only do we embark upon rounder's fixtures, we also have the pleasure in attending the Coastal and District athletics events. This is a really grand stage for our athletes to compete on and already the rigorous training has started! Of course, this is all in preparation for the CCA event of the year that is Sports Day….’What team are you in?’

Finally, after being invited to the official launch of the Women’s Tour Bike Race, we are due to attend the actual event this week where many CCA students will get to watch the event and participate in structured races on the course that the professionals will use. This is a fitting reward for our hardworking PE students with the opportunity to participate in this event.
