On Modern Foreign Languages...

As I write, our Year 11 and Year 12 students have already completed their GCSEs and AS level exams. They all worked extremely hard and we look forward to some outstanding results in August.

At the end of May we said goodbye to our French assistant Lilian, but for the first time it really is “Au revoir” (‘til we see you again) as he has asked to stay for a second year . He has been a real asset to the languages department and students have loved working with him and finding out about life in France from a real French speaker. It is a compliment to CCA that he has chosen to return for another year as he has enjoyed the friendliness of all the staff and students. During his last lesson with Year 10, our students prepared an interview with him to find out about his thoughts on life in England and comparisons with France for our SMSC board.

Students in Year 8 are getting very excited about their upcoming trip to Paris (25th- 27th) June. Having learnt about all the famous sights during lessons last half term, thirty-nine lucky students will now be able to experience the real thing. Activities planned include a boat trip along the river Seine; a meal in a real French restaurant; a trip up the Tour Montparnasse for outstanding views across the city; not forgetting a day spent at Parc Asterix, the original French theme park. I hope the sun shines for us!
