In September we welcomed back Mr Marks to further develop the teaching of Spanish across the Academy. He has lots of exciting new ideas and I am sure that his classes are really enjoying his innovative teaching methods. In certain lessons he is being ably assisted by one of our Year 12 students, Georgia Krivec who has recently returned from living in Spain for over ten years.

Many of our German students, especially those in Years 10 and 11, have been working very closely with another new face, Alessa Schummer. Alessa was a former student, having spent a year in our 6th form to improve her English five years ago. She is now midway through her degree and was required to spend some time in this country and so she has been volunteering in the language department here at CCA. She has been a real asset and staff and students alike will be very sorry to see her leave at the end of this term.

A familiar face returned to support students studying French in October. Lilian, our Foreign Language Assistant is now back with us until May. He plays a very valuable part in building up students’ confidence in speaking French.

Our students are very much enjoying the new iPads that we have in the department. We are using them for research purposes and also allowing students to record themselves in order to improve their speaking skills.

Plans are well underway for next year’s Paris trip. We have a few spare places so if there any year 8 or 9 students who are interested, they should see Mrs Barton as soon as possible.
