Students on Cohort 2 of the ‘Infinity Academy’ got off to a great start today! Pupils from Year 7 & 8 set a high standard completing digital autobiographies on their iPads and participating with real energy in their sports double club!

The Infinity Academy is CCA’s extra-curricular study centre where a selection of high achievers in literacy really do get a chance to extend and challenge their abilities. There was a real buzz amongst those invited and, as they considered and shared their personal future aspirations, it became clear that the group has a lot to offer. We look forward to challenging you and developing your skills in the 15 weeks we have together. Watch this space!

At Crazy-For-Reading Clacton Coastal Academy we use a programme by Renaissance Learning called Accelerated Reader to promote a love for reading. Our classes are crazy about it and they all aim for the status of MODEL CLASS CERTIFICATION. The only way to achieve such an honour is to match the criteria which is based over a 12 week period.

Criteria: Students sit a reading test to access their reading ability, they must read at this level or above. The classes must achieve an average of 20 minutes independent reading per day. 90% of the pupils must achieve 85% or over on their book based comprehension quizzes.

Two classes from ‘Epic Year Eight’ (8C3 and 8O2) have already achieved this in the first 12 weeks! In fact this is the second year C3 have been honoured with this award!

Confirmation has also just been received that 8C3 have made MASTER CLASS, 8C3 is the first class in the country to be awarded this certification! The challenge is on, can 802 also achieve this honour? Can any other classes beat 8C3?
