AET Student Voice Conference

I had the pleasure of taking four students from CCA to an AET Student Voice Conference in Tamworth, last Friday. After a very early start to the day, we arrived at the conference to meet students and teachers from lots of other AET Academies. The students were given a motivational talk by an AET member of staff which encouraged them to believe in themselves and in their ability. The talk also reminded the students to take time each day to smile - there were certainly lots of smiling faces in the room all day.

The students were all then talked to about what it meant to be a positive teenager and how they could have a positive impact on their own academies and the students who learn there. The students were also given an opportunity to discuss their ideas about what a student council should be like and to celebrate the great work that goes on at CCA with our own Academy Council.

Our students certainly had lots of ideas and suggestions and were clearly able to draw on their very positive experience of being a part of the Academy Council at CCA.

Part of the afternoon was spent completing team building activities and our students took part in all the activities with enthusiasm and a real sense of ‘team.’ The students, Callum Abbott, Holly McNamara, Daniel Stokes and Jenita Johnson, represented the Academy superbly and were an absolute credit to themselves, their year groups, and the Academy.
