Year 8

On Tuesday this week, 8 students from year 8 visited Essex university as part of a progress activity.

The university have pledged to support these students through the next 5years of their education with a view to get them inspired to attend university.

The students took part in various activities focused on team building and problem solving.

They were joined by student from Alderman Blaxill and Thomas Lord Audley.

CCA students, as always, were a credit to the school and got fully involved and made the other students feel welcome.

The students had a really great experience and the next activity will be based in school with some of the university’s student ambassadors, who will be acting as study mentors.

The art exhibition was a fantastic success this week and I was so amazed by the year 8 work on show.

I will be getting some signed copies from student this week for my office.

Miss Rawlings was especially grateful for the support she received from two of our student; this is what she had to say: ‘Ronnie Dawson and Mitchell Campbell were absolutely amazing this evening.

They supported me with everything to do with the Art exhibition tonight and they represented year 8 in Art and made all of our guests feel very welcome.

They happened to help Sheryl Green, who is the lady in charge of my teacher training and her words were “two incredibly polite young men, they are a credit to the school” and I honestly couldn’t agree more.

I was receiving compliments about them left, right and centre. I couldn’t be any prouder to be their teacher, I will miss them dearly.’

The sponsorship forms for year 8's charity challenge will be coming out this week. We hope to row from John O'Groats to lands end and back in a team challenge where on 16 rowing machines students from 3 tutor groups will row their hearts out to cover as much distance as possible in a 1hour slot.

Hopefully over 3 hours we will have covered over 3000 kilometers!
