Year 7 Attendance, Progress & Achievement

“When I’m inspired, I get excited because I can’t wait to see what I’ll come up with next.” I overheard that in the Science corridor last week from a couple of year 12 students. Its something year 7 are starting to understand. I’m really over the moon with some students work I am seeing at the moment. It is obvious that great progress is happening across the academy in all subjects.

I also had a task last week of having another good look at the interim report your parents/carers received at parents evening. I have to say I really am impressed with what I saw. I cannot go into specifics but there are a lot of students who will be as proud of their achievements as I am.

Can I take this opportunity to remind all that the three magic words in year 7 at the moment are attendance, progress and achievement!

Well done and have a good week.

CCA Passport

Year 9 have been working on collating their evidence for the second strand of the CCA Passport award. The focus this half term has been 'Courageous'. Have you been a courageous student? If you can evidence this, bring it to your tutor where you can gain your points!

Attendance Notes

A gentle reminder, if you are off sick, please ensure you bring a note to either your tutor or the year office.

Progress

I was delighted to receive an email from Mr Moore to advise us of the improved attainment from the recent Year Nine assess-ments. Fantastic progress year 9 - well done.

Courage to Care

Well done to Shay Barnes this week who looked after an upset student this week by bringing him to the help of the year of-fice. Shay also took the time to help a new student find his les-sons too! Doing it the Year Nine way! Well done Shay!

Year 10 Maximize

It is always great to hear visitors say something nice about our year group and so when we received this lovely email below, we felt very proud of them. Our visitors were from a company called ‘Maximize’; they have been working with us for a number of years now so they have met quite a few of our students. ‘Maximize’ came in on Monday 27th April 2015 as part of our whole-school ‘Data Conference’ morning in which students review their academic progress for the past term. They worked with four different tutors groups: 10CAD, 10VOL, 10JA and 10MLY. The focus of the hour-long session with ‘Maximize’ was looking at various different revision techniques e.g. making up silly stories to help recall a sequence of events. Here’s what Maximize said about our four tutor groups:

“Just a line to thank you and your colleagues for your warm welcome and support when Mick and I came to your school earlier today to work with some of the Year 10 students. We thoroughly enjoyed working with both groups. They were excellent … Mick, who has been to your school many times, thought they were the best cohort he has ever worked with! They managed to remain focused throughout, joining in enthusiastically when we wanted them to, and listening intently when we needed that, as well. We hope we managed to reinforce the key points that we discussed beforehand, and would like to wish them well with their future exams.”

Well done, yet again, Year 10!
