Year 7 Celebration Evening

Year 7 have been working their socks off this week with the preparation of the planned celebration evening. The work I’ve seen so far has been excellent and a real credit to all involved. Also, a massive thanks has to go to all the staff that have provided work for the event, the children who are taking part in the event and the parents for supporting the event.

Miss Perry, Miss Hilton and Miss Granger have to have special mention for the preparation for the celebration evening. The jobs which parents and children don’t see are important so a special thanks to them.

This week has been all about Danbury, Celebration Evening, Activities Week and the Pier to Pier walk. Letters, meetings and planning has been full on so details for these events are coming up. As I say in the year 7 assemblies, year 7 are working to the line! By the way, the line is 2:51pm on the 18th July!

Year 8 Charity Extravaganza

This week we said Bon Yoyage to some of Year eights as they head for Paris. The students were certainly excited despite the changeable weather forecast! I look forward to hearing all their stories upon their return.

It was a fantastic week for Kiera Boyce who won gold in the Javelin at District Sports. Such a fantastic achievement, well done Kiera and to all who participated in the event. Our wonderful Sport Leaders have been working in the local Primary schools this week. Their enthusiasm and dedication is to really be admired by all - great work girls!

On Monday, Year Eight participated in the inter-form rounders tournament. It was fantastic to see so many students taking part and enjoying cheering on their form groups! Well done to all involved!

Don't forget! Our charity Extravaganza is fast approaching! Come and join us on Tuesday 15th July from 3pm...invites to follow. Final payments for the end of term trip to Adventure Island is due by the end of the month. Should you have any problems regarding payment, please contact the Year Office.

Year 9 Option Tasters

I was very fortunate to take 5 year 9 students with me to the times education festival of education. The students were invited to support the design engineer construct course and had their own workshops. The first was using Pythagoras theorem to mark out a 3m x 3m space at perfect right angles within a tolerance of 15mm. The second was to mark out the work STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) using a total station and a set of coordinates. Teachers and students took part in the activities throughout the day and all commented on how professional and knowledgeable our students were. They even took on some students from Wellington College in the setting out challenge and won!

Also this week we saw the launch of the year 9 transition projects where students have been taking part in option subjects getting a taste of the GCSE subjects. Students will have these for the next 3 weeks to get a feel for the option. They will then be able to make an informed choice if they wish to change.

The year trips are gooooo! We have enough students signed up on both the ski trip and paintball so please can I ask that any outstanding money is paid ASAP.

Jack Taylor was our First £10 give away winner, will it be your turn next with 100% attendance?

Year 10 Work Experience

Well, you should have received letters in the post this week informing you of where your child is going to be completing their work experience placement in the last week of this term. If you have not received these letters, could I please ask that you remind your child to visit the Careers Zone at the Academy in order to find out the details of the placement.

As I am sure you can appreciate, this is a fantastic opportunity for your child to experience the 'world of work' in a real work-place. I know that the students are very much looking forward to this opportunity and, while they may be a little nervous at the prospect, are showing a very matter attitude towards the process.

The signed consent forms need to be returned to the Careers Zone as soon as possible. I really look forward to sharing all the success stories with you in the new year.

Big congratulations this week must go to all those students who took part in the District Athletics. Once again, Year 10 was well represented with some our amazing sports men and women. I understand that it was a fantastic day and the students in year 10 did us proud!

Year 11 BTEC Deadline

We have finally reached the end of our incredible journey with Year 11; this week marks the deadline for all BTECs and the completion of GCSE examinations here at CCA. Many of our students will be returning to our Sixth Form in the new academic year to start their Level 3 courses however some are moving on to pastures new to start apprenticeships or new jobs. Wherever their path takes them, we wish them the very best of luck and would like to thank them for their amazing levels of commitment and hard work over the last two years in particular.
