Year 7 Nearly there...

It’s hard to believe that it is almost the end of the school year but things are certainly not winding down here at the Academy for year 7. A number of our pupils are at the Danbury Outdoor Adventure Camp. I am sure they are doing us proud and having a fantastic time.

Next Friday 17th will see a large number of pupils heading off to Colchester Zoo for animal encounters. Further information about the trip will be passed to parents and guardians via tutors so please listen out for this.

Finally the 21st will be year 7’s final assembly and it promises to be a good one. In addition to this there will be a handover to the new year 8 team for the next academic year.

Year 9 Activities Week

It's been a busy week as the final preparations are being made for what looks to be the best activities week ever!

It all kicks off with Sports Day on Wednesday where students will be involved in a carousel of activities linking into maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Students have permission to arrive in school in their PE kits for the day as they will be involved in physical tasks. On Thursday, students will be involved in an Employability for Life day where they will be developing and learning new skills that will prepare them for the work place. On Friday, we have our trip to Harry Potter and the Pier to Pier walk - letters have been sent out outlining the agenda of each event.

On Monday (20th) we have our Formal Awards - you will receive a letter informing you of which ceremony students will be involved in. Finally, on Tuesday, students will spend time with their tutor, celebrating the end of year, we are also planning a 'fun awards' assembly which promises to be good fun!

Well done to those in the English and Maths project - as I continue popping into lessons, students are focused. The confidence from students has simply blossomed! I look forward to seeing the end products, well done!

Year 10 Pier to Pier Walk

The final few weeks of term are due to be very busy for Year 10. Having just completed a week of interventions across all subject areas, they will shortly be starting their work experience; I am confident our students will show the community how mature and hardworking they are.

Our last two days will also be filled with activities that show just how ready they are for Year 11 and to lead by example to the rest of the Academy. On Monday 20th July all students in Year 10 will be taking part in a ‘Pier to Pier’ walk in aid of our chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. The aim is to not only raise money for charity, but also to promote healthy living and fitness within our year group. And finally….. on Tuesday 21st July all parents and carers are invited to the Year 10 Awards ceremony. As seats are very limited, it is advisable that you get there 15 minutes early.

We look forward to what will be a wonderful end to Year 10.
